Of american and French nationality, Carina Barone is a painter, an actress and a trapeze artist. She has resided in France for over thirty years.

Carina was born in Salzburg, Austria. While a young teenager, she was adopted by an American army officer after her mother re-married. (Carina little girl and her family )
Carina traveled throughout the world, changing continents and countries every two years.

After high school she studied graphic art in Germany, where she became familiar with design, water-color, and collage. (Some early works )
But once she discovered oil paints, she truly fell in love with the medium.

After school, she returned to America and started working as a fashion model in Chicago, then moved to New York city, where she lived for many years. She modeled for popular fashion magazines in both the US and Europe. (View slideshow )
Later, she re-located to Paris, working steadily as a model. She also married a Frenchman, and began acting in French theatre, films, and television.

Carina has acted in more than thirty films, with directors such as Jean-Luc GODARD, Carlos SAURA, Euzhan PALCY , and Yves ROBERT. She has worked with such prestigious actors as Anthony QUINN , Martin SHEEN , Jean ROCHEFORT and Alexandra STEWART . A big fan of theatre, Carina has sung and danced in many musicals, with directors like Roger LOURET , winner of the Molière 95 Award, and Giorgio STREHLER .

An experienced trapezist , Carina has taken classes from the renown professor, Pierre BERGAM, and has completed courses at Annie FRATELLINI'S National Circus School.
Carina has used her talent as a trapeze artist for television and numerous theatre performances .
The "Dream Of An Old Trapeze Artist" is her last trapeze creation in a circus (2007). Today, she continues to train at the Trapeze School "The Circle of the O" .

Although very busy acting and traveling, Carina's passion for the Fine Arts has never left her. She has always been fascinated by painting, and over time it has become her biggest love and favorite mode of expression. Some of her writings about Naive Art are in these "MUSINGS OF A PAINTER"

Influenced by the early Flemish and Italian schools of painting, as well as Matisse, she chose the form of primitive painting to express her incredible vitality and her passion for the little and grand things of life, in a pure and simple way.

Carina received the Medal of the City of Paris at the 1996 "Halle aux toiles", in 2008, the Award Of the Public at the 44th Exhibit Of Fine Arts in Châtillon, in 2010, the Award Of The City Of Varenna and in 2012 The Award Of The Theme at the Premio Internazionale di Pittura Naif which took place in Varenna, Italy, in 2012 and 2013 The Award Of The General Council and The Award Of The Public at the Salon de la Vallée de l'Eure, in 2013 the Award of Fine Arts in La Frette-sur-Seine and in 2015 the Award Of The Public at the BCM Gallery in Barcelona (Spain).


In 1998, during six months, she exhibited a retrospective of her work in the city of Homburg, Germany . In 2004, she had a big personal exhibition in the famous swiss gallery Pro Arte Kasper, and in 2007, another one in the prestigious MIDAN , the French International Museum of Primitive Art and .

One of her paintings belongs to the permanent collection of the International Museum of Naive Art in Magog, Quebec.
Many of her paintings belong to private collections like those of Jacques Schwartz and Michel Klein in Paris, Peggy Mac Dowell in Atlanta, or Jochen Senf in Berlin.

For years now, Carina is in charge of a painting workshop for children .
